Winnebago Lutheran Academy

Winnebago Lutheran Academy, also known as WLA, is a Lutheran high school in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin associated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). It is the second oldest WELS high school, after Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee. The school was founded in 1925 by St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac because a confirmand of the 1925 class wished there were a place where she and her classmates could continue to learn God's word after they finished 8th grade. Although 9th grade was part of the original St. Peter's School, after the first school year it was decided to continue education through 12th grade.
It is the parent school of WLA Schools, a group of Lutheran grade schools. The schools are spread about a
50 mile radius from Fond du Lac.〔() WLA Schools - Education Connection〕
After its start at the corner of Second and Marr Streets in downtown Fond du Lac next to St. Peter's Church, the academy was moved in 1951 to its current location at 475 E. Merrill Ave.
The athletic teams at Winnebago Lutheran Academy are known as the Vikings and their colors are royal blue and white. They compete in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association and the Wisconsin Flyway Conference. Their primary rival is the Ledgers of St. Mary Springs High School, also in Fond du Lac. They also have a rivalry with their synodical brothers from the south, the Chargers of Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School.
